The Festival Trophy

This is a Grade 3 steeplechase race. The race takes every year in March. The race is a part of the Cheltenham Festival. Only horses of the age of five years and above are allowed to participate in this Grade 3 race.

The race takes place on the Old Course in Cheltenham. Horses in this race have to run for 5 kilometres to complete the course. There are twenty fences placed over the five-kilometres race. It is amazing to watch the horses jumping over the fences and trying to increase the pace. This race is also a handicap race.

The race has a purse reward of £110, 000. This large amount is due to the rise in popularity of the race over the years. The winner of the race gets to walk away with a total of £ 61,897. The latest winner, who is the 2020 champion, is The Conditional.

This exciting race was first referred to as the National Hunt Handicap Chase. Its title has changed over the years as the competition was often named after the sponsor of the race. The current sponsors of this breathtaking race are the Ultima Business Solutions.

The winners of this race get the privilege of participating in the Grand National race. It can be the Grand National race of that year or another year.

The race has some amazing records which have been in the making since 1946. The most successful horses here have had a total of two wins each. They are, Sentina, Scot Lane and Un Temps Pour Tout. The most successful jockeys in this race have had a total of three wins each. These are Robert Thornton and Tom Scudamore. Some trainers have also done spectacularly well with a total of four wins each. These are Fred Rimell and Fulke Walwyn.
